Occupaws is a Madison-based non-profit charitable organization, founded by Nicole Meadowcroft. Its mission is to raise, train and place highly skilled guide dogs with a Wisconsin resident who has a visual impairment. OccuPaws is different from other programs in that the placement training sessions take place in the client’s home environment. (Most traditional guide dog training facilities require the visually impaired person to spend four weeks at their training location).
OccuPaws is an all-volunteer organization with 40 regular volunteers. They conduct 4-5 major fund raisers each year, with all proceeds going to directly benefit guide dogs in training and their clients. All of OccuPaws' guide dogs are placed with their human partners FREE OF CHARGE. OccuPaws operates solely on public donations. |
